The thaw is coming and Spring is just around the corner. There will be many homes “hitting” the market. Some sellers will remove their homes from the market to take advantage of the winter down time in real estate. This is common since the winter months slow down traffic and the cold weather keeps people inside. However, since Spring is around the corner, the For Sale signs will be blossoming! We have all heard in the news and through word of mouth that sales are down and new mortgages are at a low. This may not mean much to many people- unless you are trying to sell your home. Having your home in the best shape possible and pricing it properly will be more important than ever before. With more homes on the market buyers have a lot of choices.
You never know when a showing will happen. You could be at work, away for the weekend or just taking it easy. As inconvenient as it can be, it is essential to have the house in a “show ready” condition at all times. Curb appeal is huge when it comes to first impressions. Pay special attention to this. Make sure the front door area is free of cobwebs, freshly painted and that the lock and handle are bright and shiny! Most agents will put the lockbox on the front door, but just in case, don’t let your home’s lockbox be anywhere other than the front door. You want your home to be warm and inviting from the start and that is the entry point. If they enter through the backdoor the awesome curb appeal and entry way you made shine is wasted.
